This is a BETA Version this means there are probably some bugs in it and some functions may not be implemented, so use it at your own risk. It is not advisable to use it in a productive environment or trust it with important recordings. Be aware, there is no support for the Beta version.

Terms of Use

The normal License you received and agreed to when installing DVBViewer 3.2.6 also applies to this version.

DVBViewer Pro uses the FastMM Memory Management Unit for Delphi, that is released under the Mozilla Public License 1.1 (MPL 1.1, http://www.mozilla.org/MPL/MPL-1.1.html). The source code is available from http://fastmm.sourceforge.net

You can post bug reports in the beta forum of the DVBViewer Forum: http://www.dvbviewer.com/forum/index.php?showforum...

Installation

First copy your DVBViewer 3.2.6 folder to a folder of your choice und unzip the contence of the beta.zip into the copied folder. DVBViewer Pro BETA can coexist with other DVBViewer installations, as long as they are not mixed up in a single folder. So there is no need to uninstall them.

When launching DVBViewer Pro BETA for the first time, it is recommended to immediately open the Options Dialog („Settings/Options“), and to select a suitable video- and audio decoder (e.g. Cyberlink, InterVideo, Nvidia, Sonic or DVD Express) on the DirectX page. The default setting „auto“ will let Windows deceide – sometimes with problematic results. You should also verify on the Hardware page your hardware is detected correctly.

The Basics:

This version supports Multi-Instance management and multicard mode.

Plugins:

You also should remove all plugins for the start. This version has a lot of changes in then OSD-Plugin-interface and because of that the Sleeptimer or Skype plugin won’t work anymore. They will be ignored and not loaded. In time there will be updates for both plugins.

Hardware:

The Hardware management is now separated from the DirectX options and has an own options page „Hardware“.

If you have connected more than one DVB-device to your PC, the dvbviewer can use them all at the same time und for example display TV with one card and record a program with another card. It’s also possible to mix different reception types.

On first start (or if the file hardware.xml is not present or doesn’t contain useful data) the DVBViewer does a hardware scan, to detect all DVB-devices.

You can also trigger the hardware scan manually with „Search devices“ in the hardware options. You should do this when ever you install new drivers or add or remove a card from the system. All found devices are listed in the device list in the hardware options.

Be aware, changes in the hardware options can stop every running recording (after a warning dialog) if you click „OK“, „Apply“ or „Search Device“.

First select the device you want to change settings for.

The Tuner type (Cable, Satellite, Terrestrial, ATSC) is automatically recognized by the DVBViewer. You should change this setting only if there was misrecognition.

With the option Status you can select if the DVBViewer Pro a certain device should use never, normal, or preferred. The setting "Do not use" can be handy, in case a DVB-device should be reserved for an other instance, in case you disconnected a (USB-)device temporarily or in case of other reasons a device is not wanted/working.

Notice: not used File- and Network-devices must have the setting „Do not use“, otherwise there can be heavy problems in the DVBViewer.

The setting „Preferred“ only works for two devices with the same tuner type (e.g. 2 DVB-S).

The setting „Mode for low bandwidth” should be activated in case you use a device with USB 1.1-connection. If this option is activated by the system, you should not change it. This option avoids actions within the DVBViewer which would cause the reception of two or more TV-programs. The data load cause by this would be too high for the transfer rate of the USB 1.1 interface. This could result in heavy disruptions of the operation of the DVBViewer.

The option „Stop stream on tuning“ can help avoiding problem switching channels.

We found in tests that some BDA drivers could block the system for minutes on DVBViewer start up if this option was not activated, so it is activated by default.

If your card does not work with this option enabled, you can turn it off without harm.

In case the detection doesn’t work properly you can use the Option Has CI Module to enable it manually. This option is also useful if you want to get rid of the “no device available” message you get on encrypted channels. Of course there will only be a black window.

Open whole transponder is only necessary for Sky/Air/Cablestar users, all other devices are not affected by this setting. It initializes the *star device in a special way, so all data from the transponder, not only the hardware filtered data are received. Of course this comes at the cost of a little higher system load. This option has to be enabled if you want to record the whole transponder.

Channelscan:

In the channel list you can now select between the different reception types.

The DVBViewer will check if a device for your chosen reception type is present and if a device is

used for recording and will issue a warning if needed.

Limitations:

- Plugins (ARP u.a.) can only use the device used for TV-playback.

- Preview/Mosaicpreview can only use the device used for TV-playback.

Have also a look at the changelog at the end of this document.
